MINUTES OF THE GRADUATE CURRICULUM COMMITTEE MEETING

August 1, 2002

PRESENT: Bidstrup-Allen (ChE), Green (MATH), Hertel (ME), Jagoda (AE), McIver (REG), Peterson (ECE), Will (CEE)

VISITORS: Kilroy (GRAD STUD), Kingsley (PUBP)

1. A motion was made to accept the report of the petition sub-committee. The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

2. The SCHOOL OF PUBLIC POLICY requested the approval of a five-year BS-MS Program. After discussion, a motion was made to approve the request. The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

3. The DEPARTMENT OF BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING requested the approval of the following new courses. A motion was made to approve the request. The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

NEW COURSES
BMED 8811 Special Topics – BME 1-0-1

BMED 8812 Special Topics – BME 2-0-2

4. Bill Greene requested the approval of admission for a student into the PHD program. This student has a master’s degree but not a bachelor degree. A motion was made to approve the request. The motion was seconded and approved. Unanimous.

5. The committee reviewed 22 petition, all were approved unless noted:

2-to be re-admitted fall 2002 (1 denied)

3-to use hours/course(s) towards degree

9-to waive 6/7-year rule

3-to register fall 2002 after withdrawing summer

3-to withdraw from course(s) past deadline

1-to process grade change past deadline (denied)

1-to change basis of course to pass/fail
