1.        Lynn Fountain called the meeting to order at 3:05 p.m.

2.        It was noted that the minutes of the November, 2002 meeting of the Committee had already been approved via e-mail.

3.        Rosalind Meyers and Bobby Pearson updated the committee on the Georgia Tech Bookstore’s upcoming move to Tech Square, focusing on the timing of the move and on transportation to and from the new facility.

Timing

·         The new bookstore will open for business on July 12, 2003.

·         The move from the current facility will begin on June 2, 2003.

·         There will be no interruptions in service during the transition period.

·         The existing bookstore facility will later be modified to house student organizations; the projected modifications will also include an indoor connection to the Student Center, a Commons room and a small bookstore.

Transportation

·         There will be a parking deck with 1550 spaces for Tech-registered cars.

·         A shuttle bus system will connect Tech Square with the rest of the campus.  The shuttle route will follow 5th Street to Ferst to end at the Student Athletic Center.  Shuttles will then return by following the same route.

·         An online service will monitor this system, allowing users to determine how long they might have to wait for the next bus.

·         This new shuttle system may necessitate increased fees for transportation.

4.        The Committee will next meet on February 4, 2003, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in ERB 114.

5.        The meeting was adjourned at 4:10 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Jeffrey Donnell, Secretary
