Title: Ideation: From Parti̕ to Reality

Description: Presented on September 14, 2011 from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm in the Reinsch-Pierce Family Auditorium on the Georgia Tech campus. Jeff Sheppard received his Masters of Architecture Degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1979. Following a teaching honorarium at Tech and an apprenticeship at the Mother Earth News Magazine, he moved to Denver to join the prestigious design firm, W.C. Muchow and Partners. Within 2 years Jeff was appointed associate in charge of design and was responsible for several award winning projects including the Winter Park Ski Area Base Facility and the Jefferson County Sheriff and Detention Facility. In 1983, Jeff and his partner Herb Roth, established Roth + Sheppard Architects. Six years later Mr. Sheppard was named the Denver AIA Young Architect of the Year. As the principal in charge of design, his projects have received over 50 American Institute of Architects Awards and 20 Awards from industry publications. Noteworthy projects include: The Denver Art Museum Lobby and Shop, Room and Board Furniture Stores, Vesta Dipping Grill, Cucina Colore Restaurant, Carellis Restaurant, over 15 Tokyo Joe’s restaurants, Scandinavian Designs Furniture Stores, Colorado State Patrol Prototype Facilities, Brighton Police Department, Milliken Police Department, Windsor Police Department and several award winning residential projects. From 1989 to present, Mr. Sheppard has served on 25 design award juries and 7 design review committees. He was the Design Coordinator for the Third Year Environmental Design Program at the University of Colorado, Boulder, he has been a guest lecturer and juror at the University of Colorado, Denver and Boulder, Oklahoma State University, Georgia Institute of Technology and lectures at the Visionary Leadership Class, School of Business at the University of Colorado, Denver. Mr. Sheppard’s recent drawings and projects are published in a McGraw Hill Press book entitled, Composite Drawing, Techniques for Architectural Presentation, and were acquired by the Denver Art Museum for their permanent collection.
