Participation and Publication Practices in Global Team Science
Abstract
Science is increasingly organized in global teams, but it remains unclear under which conditions participation in global team science result in authorships for different team members. Taking clinical research as an example, I show that experimental subjects in clinical trials increasingly become recruited by researchers in low-income countries. Yet,knowledge claims about the dataobtained from these patients remain disproportionally produced in high-income countries. The effect seems to be particularly pronounced in industry-funded research.
