    Abstract
As structural engineers we have the responsibility not only to make sure our designs stand up, but also to consider the effect that they have on the built environment and those who experience them. The talk will cover a number of projects, ranging from buildings to footbridges and structures, and will describe how the structural ideas were developed together with the clients, architects and the rest of the design teams.
