This study presents a comparative assessment of the seismic detailing and lap splice requirements specified in the Bridge and Structure Design Manual (Georgia Department of Transportation) and AASTHO LRFD Design Specifications, Probabilistic methods are used to determine the expected performance of different multi-span bridge classes in Georgia as a function of seismic hazard, detailing requirements and lap splice lengths. Based on the results, the study aims to provide recommendation to Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) on improving seismic detailing requirements considering constructibility constraints and seismic risk.
