Bridging the Affordability Gap: How Can Faith Based Organizations Leverage Their Real Estate Assets?
Abstract
The City of Atlanta faces a critical need for more affordable housing. This paper seeks to understand whether faith-based organizations can leverage their real estate assets to help aid in the solution, and what parcels are best suited for housing development. The parcel analysis is conducted through mining, cleaning, and reconciling parcel data, and then uses spatial analysis to determine parcel suitability. This paper finds that faith-based organizations are well positioned to leverage their land for housing, and highlights seven specific sites that are suitable for potential development.
