Helicopter or rotorcraft shipboard landing is a very challenging flight operation for pilots owing to the pilot fatigue caused by random ship deck motion, turbulence caused by airwake interactions and degraded visual environments due to sea sprays and poor visibility at night. This poster elaborates on the development and assessment of a real-time guidance module for pilot assisted rotorcraft shipboard landing using Model Predictive Path Integral (MPPI) approach, a stochastic optimal control methodology.
