A Comprehensive Study on Detector Modeling, Reactor Core Environment Analysis, and Fuel Burnup for the Lifespan of the Molten Salt Research Reactor
Abstract
To provide an outline of molten salt reactor development history, and the importance of reviving this technology. From previous experience gained through the MSRE, build upon pre-existing instrumentation and monitoring methods and apply these guidelines to the MSRR. After a brief summary of the modeling capabilities which help provide a greater insight to molten salt monitoring, develop detector models which can be experimentally validated and applied to the MSRR MCNP model. Upon implementing these validated detectors in the MSRR MCNP model, conduct a burnup study and analyze the instrumentation response as a function of reactor lifetime.
