Title: Supporting Scholarship: A Library/IT Partnership for Digital Citation Management
Author: Farrelly, Deg ; Carmean, Colleen
Abstract: New paradigms demand change. Traditionally, IT supports technology and libraries provide content. RefWorks, a licensed, bibliographic citation management service, fits neither side of the house. At Arizona State University, an IT/Library partnership provides funding and support for RefWorks. Our presentation describes this value-added approach to cross-collaborative service.
Description: Deg Farrelly is Chair of Collections Council for Arizona State University’s Fletcher Library. Additionally he is the media librarian and liaison librarian to the department of Communication Studies and the Women’s Studies program. His external interests include mid-20th century modernism, origami, Scrabble, and the works of Stephen Sondheim. Colleen Carmean is a Director of Learning Technologies for the University Technology Office at Arizona State University. Her focus is on research and implementation of technologies in the ASU curriculum that create deeper, more engaging learning. Colleen teaches applied computing courses, face-to-face and online, and is currently completing her PhD studies in Instructional Design for Online Learning.
