Title: A Realistic View of Commercializing Nanotechnology Within the Chemical and Various Other Industries

Abstract: Nanotechnology has become "The Word" across all business lines; yet, few understand this new technology and the future impact on their prospective businesses. This talk will provide a framework for understanding nanotechnology and how markets should be evaluated for supply. Also provided is identification of the likely commercial applications for nanotechnology and generalization on confronted obstacles and areas where needs are growing. Nanotechnology commercialization will require a shift in mindset, and methods currently being implemented by R&D and Sales and Marketing will be unable to properly introduce this new technology to various potential customers. We have found that tremendous opportunities exist for a different classification of personnel for Sales and Marketing in Nanotechnology. Since there will exist no standardization of processes, personnel will be taking a voyage of discovery, product by product and case by case. Outline of HS and College courses that future “Nanotechnologist” should consider in preparation for involvement with this new technology. This program will provide a glimpse of the future in commercialization and challenges for Nanotechnology products.
