Abstract: Mr. Marc Vanheukelen is the Head of Unit for Relations with the United States and Canada, in the Directorate General for External Relations, of the European Commission. He previously has served as Deputy Head of Cabinet to the Belgian Minister for Foreign Affairs among many other positions during his long tenure at the European Commission. He has held teaching posts at the European Public Finance, University of Saarbrücken, Germany; University of Limburg, Belgium, and taught International Economics at ICHEC, Brussels.
Description: Sponsored by the European Union Center of Excellence (EUCE). The Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech is one of eleven universities in the country selected to host a European Union Center of Excellence (EUCE) for the 2008-2011 period. The EUCE's core mission is to promote knowledge and understanding of the European Union and the significance of the transatlantic relationship, including the strong economic and cultural ties between Europe, the state of Georgia, and the southeast.
