Although EEG sonification has been well studied, little attention has been paid to its use to identify the seizure focus in patients undergoing epilepsy surgery. We explore the requirements imposed by this application, and discuss a preliminary approach that has identified an auditory marker for epileptic tissue not always visualized by conventional EEG. Development of these early ideas into a clinical tool would be a welcome addition to the epilepsy surgery evaluation.
